Ph Water Washing

Once isomerized, crude needs to be water washed to pull residual acid and perhaps impurities out of the material. This can be done with water, a base, and pH paper. The base can be sodium bicarbonate, magnesium oxide, or calcium carbonate.

Use 2:1 alkaline water with each wash. The first jar is pH 9, the second jar pH 8, The third jar pH 7. Shake the warm jar vigorously and let the material settle before transferring to the next jar. After the last wash, place in a vac oven to remove remaining water.
